While Big Law Mulls an Amicus Brief, Boutique Statements Multiply

Litigation boutiques and midsize law firms have become more vocal in calling out President Trump’s executive orders against firms and supporting “rule of law” issues, running in stark contrast to Big Law firms that have remained mum.

Trump’s presidential actions against four firms—including now Jenner & Block, Paul Weiss, Perkins Coie and Covington & Burling—are causing discord within other Big Law partnerships and the legal community on how to respond, including whether firms should band together for any kind of unified message or action. Some law firms are still deciding whether to sign an amicus brief that may be filed in Perkins Coie’s litigation to fight an executive order
