Trump’s Anti-Birthright Policy Would Leave Babies ‘In The Shadow,’ Groups Tell High Court

A group of Democratic states, pregnant women and immigration advocacy organizations on Friday ripped into the Department of Justice’s request to have the U.S. Supreme Court reinstate President Donald Trump’s restriction of birthright citizenship.

The plaintiffs are defending a series of court orders blocking Trump’s controversial policy nationwide as unlawful under the Fourteenth Amendment’s Citizenship Clause. They denounced the Trump DOJ’s emergency application to lift those orders and allow immigration officials to begin refusing citizenship documents to U.S.-born babies of undocumented and temporary immigrants.
