Supreme Court Leans Toward Upholding Law Allowing Terrorism Suits Against PLO

The U.S. Supreme Court signaled on Tuesday that it would uphold a 2019 law making it easier for victims of terrorism to sue the Palestine Liberation Organization and the Palestinian Authority for hundreds of millions of dollars in U.S. courts.

Amid Israel’s ongoing war with Hamas, the justices are considering whether to overturn a court decision finding that the Promoting Security and Justice for Victims of Terrorism Act violates the Constitution’s guarantee of due process. President Donald Trump signed the law with bipartisan support during his first term in order to overcome hurdles in subjecting the PLO and PA to civil liability in American courts for acts of terrorism.
