Big Law Firms Quietly Update Diversity Language, as Deadline Passes to Disclose Data

While four Big Law firms have settled with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission over its probe of diversity practices, the agency has remained mum on whether other law firms ultimately disclosed any information or settled after the agency’s Tuesday deadline.

But at least seven firms that received the EEOC’s letter — including Debevoise & Plimpton; Ropes & Gray; Sidley Austin; Reed Smith; White & Case; Goodwin Procter; and Morgan, Lewis & Bockius — have quietly made changes to their webpages on diversity, equity and inclusion commitments and firm programming, appearing to reduce their risk of an extensive investigation with the EEOC.
