There is no playbook for dodging the types of presidential actions that hit Covington & Burling and Perkins Coie recently. Instead, law firms are writing their strategies from scratch, according to crisis management experts in contact with Big Law firms over the past few weeks.
That means scrutinizing every client retention, public statement, hiring policy and anything else that could provoke a Trump administration seeking to end DEI and exact revenge on the president’s perceived adversaries. Law firms also are consulting their own defense counsel about their risks and potential defense strategies.
