Law firms are continuing to double down on their deals with President Donald Trump, with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom and eight other law firms that reached pro bono agreements with the president defending their decisions to Democratic lawmakers.
Skadden, represented by Kramer Levin partner Richard Sauber, said that the agreement with the president is “fully consistent” with the firm’s legal and ethical responsibilities, as well as its core values and employment practices. Skadden also said it chose to engage with Trump after learning it would be a target of an executive order, according to the firm’s response to an April 24 letter from Rep. Dave Min, D-California, and Rep. April Delaney, D-Maryland, along with 14 of their Democratic colleagues.
