A Florida attorney and his law firm are facing a complaint in Miami state court over their failure to return $430,000 without “legal right or justification” to a quantitative investment management firm in connection with an agreement to act as an escrow agent for a digital currency exchange.
The case dates to Oct. 2, 2024, when the plaintiff, Winton Capital LLC, and one of the defendants, Prado Law Offices, acting through co-defendant Edwin Prado, allegedly entered into the escrow agreement. Prado agreed to act as the escrow agent to purchase Bitcoin from Winton. In doing so, Winton was required to deposit funds into Prado Law’s trust account.
