{"id":908,"date":"2024-05-22T16:03:26","date_gmt":"2024-05-22T16:03:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usatrustedlawyers.com\/blog\/graceland-sale-blocked-as-elvis-presley-heir-fights-foreclosure\/"},"modified":"2024-05-23T17:53:18","modified_gmt":"2024-05-23T17:53:18","slug":"graceland-sale-blocked-as-elvis-presley-heir-fights-foreclosure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/usatrustedlawyers.com\/blog\/graceland-sale-blocked-as-elvis-presley-heir-fights-foreclosure\/","title":{"rendered":"Graceland Sale Blocked as Elvis Presley Heir Fights Foreclosure"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/billboard.com\/artist\/elvis-presley\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Elvis Presley<\/a>\u2019s granddaughter <strong>Riley Keough<\/strong> won a court order Wednesday blocking a looming foreclosure sale of the late singer\u2019s historic Memphis home Graceland, after her attorneys argued that the bizarre effort to sell the home was \u201cfraudulent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAt a hearing in Memphis court, <strong>Chancellor JoeDae Jenkins<\/strong> granted Keough\u2019s request for a preliminary injunction that will block the mysterious foreclosure proceeding \u2013 initially set for Thursday \u2013 until he can rule on her case, according to court records reviewed by <em>Billboard<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAs reported by CNN, the judge said during the hearing that Keough would likely win her arguments \u2014 and that allowing the sale of the legendary mansion to go through in the meantime would cause her so-called irreparable harm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cThe estate is considered unique under Tennessee law, and in being unique the loss of the real estate will be considered irreparable harm,\u201d Jenkins said in the hearing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn a case filed in Tennessee court last week, Keough alleged that the foreclosure was triggered by phony demands from a company called Naussany Investments \u2013 an entity that allegedly claims her late mother, Lisa Marie Presley, borrowed $3.8 million and used the famed mansion as collateral.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe alleged loans are recorded in documents supplied by Naussany that feature Lisa Marie\u2019s signature, but Keough\u2019s lawyers say those records are \u201cforgeries\u201d and that she \u201cdid not in fact sign the documents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cThese documents are fraudulent,\u201d Keough\u2019s attorneys write in their May 15 complaint, obtained by <em>Billboard<\/em>. \u201cLisa Marie Presley never borrowed money from Naussany Investments and never gave a deed of trust to Naussany Investments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tNaussany (Naussany Investments &amp; Private Lending LLC) could not immediately be located for comment on Wednesday\u2019s order. An attorney for Keough also did not return a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tWhen Elvis died in 1977, his daughter Lisa Marie inherited his estate, including Graceland \u2014 a tourist mecca that pulls in millions of dollars a year in revenue. Until her death last year, she served as trustee of the Promenade Trust, an entity that controls the Memphis mansion. When she passed away, Keough assumed that same role and took control of the property.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAccording to the lawsuit, Naussany alleges it made the multi-million dollar loan to Lisa Marie in 2018 and recorded the transaction in Florida.
