\n\tThe wife of founding Maroon 5 bassist Mickey Madden has filed for divorce, two weeks after she accused the musician of beating her during a confrontation about disturbing and sexual texts he\u2019d sent to teenage girls.<\/p>\n

\n\tKate Bowman, who married Madden in May, says in court papers filed Wednesday (Aug. 13) that she wants to divorce the bassist due to \u201cirreconcilable differences.\u201d Bowman is seeking spousal support and a separation of assets.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe divorce filing comes just weeks after Bowman filed a domestic violence petition against Madden, alleging he\u2019d attacked her on July 21 at their Los Angeles home after she discovered sexual messages on his phone with \u201cat least two high school girls,\u201d including \u201cfantasies\u201d about \u201craping one of the girls.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHe put both his arms around my body around my abdomen and arms to restrain me,\u201d Bowman wrote in the July 30 petition. \u201cHe then slammed my body against the marble kitchen counter. I felt pain in my hip and waist area. He shoved me to the ground and was out of his mind. I landed on my knees. He kept screaming for me to give him the phone. He appeared literally insane to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBowman said she ran from the home to escape Madden, but that he followed her outside and \u201cshoved my body against the metal gate.\u201d Madden then allegedly chased Bowman down the street, and she says he \u201cslammed my body into the rock wall that bordered the street with his body.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tA judge granted Bowman\u2019s request for a restraining order on July 31, ordering Madden to stay 100 yards away from his wife and their shared home.<\/p>\n

\n\tMadden, who, according to Bowman\u2019s court paper,s has since checked himself into a sex addiction rehabilitation program, could not be reached for comment on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\n\tA founding member of Maroon 5, Madden left the band in 2020 after he was arrested on accusations of domestic violence. It is unclear if the alleged incident in that case involved Bowman or another victim, as charges were never filed.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n
