\n\tU.K. police have announced that Irish rap group Kneecap will not be criminally charged for shouting \u201cFree Palestine\u201d and \u201c\u2018F\u2014 Keir Starmer\u201d during its politically-charged Glastonbury Festival set last month.<\/p>\n

\n\tAvon and Somerset Police said in a Friday (July 18) update that they\u2019ve closed a previously announced investigation into Kneecap\u2019s packed June 28 set at Glastonbury\u2019s West Holts Stage.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cDetectives sought advice from the Crown Prosecution Service during their enquiries and after that advice, we have made the decision to take no further action on the grounds there is insufficient evidence to provide a realistic prospect of conviction for any offence,\u201d the police update reads.<\/p>\n

\n\tAuthorities in Avon and Somerset are continuing to investigate fiery remarks made during Bob Vylan\u2019s June 29 Glastonbury set, in which frontman Bobby Vylan (Pascal Robinson-Foster) chanted \u201cdeath to the IDF,\u201d a reference to the Israeli Defense Forces. <\/p>\n

\n\tMeanwhile, Kneecap MC Mo Chara (Liam \u00d3g \u00d3 hAnnaidh) still faces a terror charge for a separate show at London\u2019s O2 Forum in November. Video footage from that performance showed Mo Chara shouting \u201cup Hamas, up Hezbollah\u201d and displaying a Hezbollah flag.<\/p>\n

\n\tKneecap appeared to allude to these other open matters in a statement reacting to the news of the closed Glastonbury investigation on Friday, writing on the group\u2019s official social media pages, \u201cOne element of the political policing intimidation attempt is over.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe played a historic set at Glastonbury,\u201d reads Kneecap\u2019s statement. \u201cEvery single person who saw our set knew no law was broken, not even close\u2026.yet the police saw fit to publicly announce they were opening an investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u00a0\u201cThis is political. This is targeted. This is state intimidation,\u201d the group\u2019s statement continued. \u201cWe will continue to fight. We will continue to win.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
