{"id":6932,"date":"2025-07-17T03:45:37","date_gmt":"2025-07-17T03:45:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usatrustedlawyers.com\/blog\/teen-charged-after-planning-opening-night-attack\/"},"modified":"2025-07-17T03:45:37","modified_gmt":"2025-07-17T03:45:37","slug":"teen-charged-after-planning-opening-night-attack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/usatrustedlawyers.com\/blog\/teen-charged-after-planning-opening-night-attack\/","title":{"rendered":"Teen Charged After Planning Opening Night Attack"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div>\n\t\t\t\t<!-- do not apply CSS styles to this element! --><\/p>\n<div class=\"pmc-paywall\">\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tA Welsh teenager planned to attack fans at the first show of Oasis\u2019 comeback tour on July 4, but he was caught by British authorities and has since admitted to a criminal charge.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.com\/uk\/crime\/article\/teenager-southport-style-attack-oasis-gig-2jfdzk2rc\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Times<\/a> <\/em>reports that a 17-year-old from South Wales \u2014 kept anonymous because he\u2019s a minor \u2014 was accused by U.K. prosecutors last month of plotting to attack the opening night of the much-awaited Oasis reunion tour in Cardiff.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe teenager had also allegedly been planning to target a dance school near his home, inspired by the deadly knife attack at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport, England, last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAccording to the <em>Times<\/em>, the Welsh teenager researched how to obtain large knives and had a note saved to his phone called \u201cplaces to attack.\u201d He also allegedly sent Snapchat messages praising the Southport killer, Axel Rudakubana, and told his school guidance counselor at a June 21 meeting that he wanted to commit a \u201cRudakubana-style attack.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe teenager\u2019s guidance counselor and a Snapchat user both reported him to the police, leading to the criminal case.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe 17-year-old pled guilty to a single charge of possessing a document useful for terrorism, admitting that he had a copy of an al-Qaeda training manual on his phone.
