{"id":6692,"date":"2025-06-28T03:35:34","date_gmt":"2025-06-28T03:35:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usatrustedlawyers.com\/blog\/flo-milli-hit-with-copyright-lawsuit-over-never-lose-me\/"},"modified":"2025-06-28T03:35:34","modified_gmt":"2025-06-28T03:35:34","slug":"flo-milli-hit-with-copyright-lawsuit-over-never-lose-me","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/usatrustedlawyers.com\/blog\/flo-milli-hit-with-copyright-lawsuit-over-never-lose-me\/","title":{"rendered":"Flo Milli Hit With Copyright Lawsuit Over \u2018Never Lose Me\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tFlo Milli is facing a copyright lawsuit over her hit 2023 song \u201cNever Lose Me,\u201d which allegedly sampled a beat that had been exclusively licensed to a man in Baltimore four years earlier.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe Friday (June 27) lawsuit targets Flo Milli (Tamia Monique Carter) over \u201cNever Lose Me,\u201d which peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as Detroit rappers Babyface Ray (Marcellus Rayvon Register) and 42 Dugg (Dion Marquise Hayes) for their 2023 song \u201cRon Artest,\u201d which Milli sampled on \u201cNever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tA man named Shamar Deal, who describes himself as a Baltimore, Md.-based songwriter and recording artist, claims that both \u201cNever Lose Me\u201d and \u201cRon Artest\u201d infringe his exclusive license to a beat called \u201cYouu\u201d by the producer Gerreaux Katana.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAccording to the lawsuit, Deal bought \u201cYouu\u201d from Katana via the rap instrumental marketplace Traktrain in 2019. Deal says he was granted an exclusive license to the beat that was supposed to last 10 years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBut Katana allegedly violated this agreement in 2023 by re-licensing \u201cYouu\u201d to Babyface Ray and 42 Dugg, who used it as the foundation for \u201cRon Artest.\u201d Deal says Flo Milli then sampled \u201cRon Artest\u201d for \u201cNever Lose Me,\u201d repeating the Detroit rappers\u2019 supposed infringement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cAs plaintiff currently holds the exclusive right to the composition, the incorporation of the composition in \u2018Ron Artest\u2019 and \u2018Never Lose Me\u2019 constitutes copyright infringement of Deal\u2019s exclusive rights in the composition track,\u201d writes Deal\u2019s attorney <strong>Larry Zerner<\/strong>. \u201cDeal brings the current lawsuit to recover damages for the violation of his copyright.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tDeal is seeking at least $1 million from Flo Milli, Babyface Ray, 42 Dugg and Katana.
