He has denied the charges; his attorneys say the events were consensual and part of a \u201cswinger\u201d lifestyle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tCombs is charged with five counts, including racketeering and sex trafficking, over those accusations. If convicted on all of the charges, he faces a potential sentence of life in prison.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIf you weren\u2019t following along for every moment this week, here are the five big developments you need to know.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<strong>Jane On The Stand<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe week was dominated by testimony from \u201cJane,\u201d an anonymous former girlfriend of Combs who says she was forced to participate in the freak-offs with male prostitutes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tLike Ventura, Jane told jurors about a complex romantic relationship, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2025\/06\/13\/nx-s1-5431713\/sean-combs-trial-diddy-jane-witness\" target=\"_blank\">according to <em>NPR<\/em><\/a> \u2014 one that included real affection for the superstar, but also coercion and manipulation, including through promises of more time together or of financial support.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tDuring cross-exam, defense attorneys tried to show Jane as a willing participant in the events, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/06\/12\/arts\/music\/sean-diddy-combs-trial-jane.html\" target=\"_blank\">per <em>The New York Times<\/em><\/a>, by showing jurors a trove of text messages in which she appeared to have positive thoughts about the freak-offs. But she insisted she was simply telling Combs what he wanted to hear and was \u201cputting on a show\u201d during the events.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<strong>Mystery Rapper <\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAt one point during her testimony, Jane described a night she allegedly spent with another famous rapper in January 2024 \u2014 setting off a debate between the legal teams over whether the mystery celebrity could be revealed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tOn the night in question, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/entertainment\/celebrities\/2025\/06\/12\/diddy-trial-live-updates-day-26\/84153810007\/\" target=\"_blank\">per <em>USA Today<\/em><\/a>, Jane told jurors that she traveled to Las Vegas with the rapper and ended up watching what amounted to a freak-off \u2014 a male prostitute having sex with a woman \u2014 in the celebrity\u2019s hotel room. She said the event later sparked rage in Combs, who demanded to know: \u201cHow could you go to another man\u2019s freak-off?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tProsecutors quickly urged the judge to bar any reveal of the rapper\u2019s name, warning that it might threaten Jane\u2019s anonymity if the name were divulged. Judge Arun Subramanian ultimately agreed to keep the name hidden, but defense attorneys gave clues \u2014 calling him an \u201cicon in the music industry\u201d and someone with a close relationship to Combs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<strong>Jane v. Teny<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tMidway through cross-examination, Jane got into a heated exchange with <strong>Teny Geragos<\/strong>, one of Combs\u2019 defense attorneys, over designer handbags.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2025\/06\/10\/diddy-ex-jane-tense-exchange-defense-attorney-designer-bag\/\" target=\"_blank\">According to <em>TMZ<\/em><\/a>, it started when Geragos asked if Jane, like another Combs girlfriend, received a Chanel bag from the rapper. Jane quickly shot back: \u201cI only got trauma.\u201d When Geragos then asked her what a Bottega bag was, Jane replied, \u201cI\u2019m sure you have one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cHow much does it cost?\u201d Geragos quickly asked her. \u201cHow much does my body cost?\u201d Jane fired back.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe tense exchange highlighted Jane\u2019s unusual position in the case. As reported <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/06\/12\/arts\/music\/sean-diddy-combs-trial-jane.html\" target=\"_blank\">by the <em>Times<\/em><\/a>, she dated Combs right up until his September arrest, didn\u2019t participate in the criminal investigation until she was subpoenaed, and met with his defense attorneys repeatedly before the trial began. She also confirmed on the stand that he\u2019s currently paying both her rent and her legal bills related to the case.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tWhen she wrapped up her six days on the witness stand on Thursday, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/entertainment\/live-news\/sean-diddy-combs-trial-06-12-25\" target=\"_blank\">per <em>CNN<\/em><\/a>, Jane made an unusual move: She hugged the attorneys who had been questioning her, including prosecutor <strong>Maurene Comey<\/strong> <em>and<\/em> Geragos.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<strong>Ye Stops By<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tYe, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, dropped in on the trial on Friday (June 13), telling reporters he was there to support Combs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tDressed in all white, Ye arrived at the courthouse late in the morning and spent about 40 minutes at the trial. Per the <em><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/sean-combs-diddy-trial-cassie-jane-0c1af5d7d6cc64c098e7465140836bc5\" target=\"_blank\">Associated Press<\/a><\/em>, he didn\u2019t make it into the main courtroom where the judge, jury and attorneys are arguing the case, instead watching testimony on a closed-circuit monitor in an overflow room.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThough hardly in the same kind of hot water as Combs, Ye has faced his own controversies in recent years \u2014 including posting antisemitic rants to social media, running Super Bowl ads for swastika t-shirts, and making outrageous claims about Jay-Z and Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s children.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThis wasn\u2019t the first support Ye has shown for Combs, a longtime friend. In February, he posted to X (formerly Twitter) asking President Donald Trump to \u201cplease free my brother Puff.\u201d And in March, he dropped a song called \u201cLonely Roads Still Go to Sunshine\u201d that appeared to feature Combs\u2019 voice on a phone-call recording.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tWhen asked if he might testify on Combs\u2019 behalf when the defense begins presenting its case, Ye didn\u2019t respond.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<strong>Mistrial Denied<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tEarly in the week, Judge Arun Subramanian denied a motion for mistrial filed by Combs\u2019 lawyers over juicy testimony \u2014 a small but important moment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAttorneys for the embattled hip-hop mogul had argued that prosecutors knowingly introduced false testimony by Bryana Bongolan, the witness who claimed that Combs dangled her from a 17-story balcony in 2016.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBut at the start of Tuesday\u2019s proceedings, Judge Subramanian said the alleged issue did not rise to the level of a trial-ending error: \u201cThis is not fodder for a mistrial.
