{"id":5733,"date":"2025-05-10T10:47:07","date_gmt":"2025-05-10T10:47:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usatrustedlawyers.com\/blog\/uproxx-hit-with-lawsuit-claiming-executive-sexually-assaulted-artist\/"},"modified":"2025-05-10T10:47:07","modified_gmt":"2025-05-10T10:47:07","slug":"uproxx-hit-with-lawsuit-claiming-executive-sexually-assaulted-artist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/usatrustedlawyers.com\/blog\/uproxx-hit-with-lawsuit-claiming-executive-sexually-assaulted-artist\/","title":{"rendered":"Uproxx Hit With Lawsuit Claiming Executive Sexually Assaulted Artist"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<span>A<\/span>n anonymous artist is suing Uproxx for $15 million, claiming the media company\u2019s production director sexually assaulted and harassed her at industry events, including a music festival, as well as at a <a href=\"https:\/\/billboard.com\/artist\/Miguel\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Miguel<\/a> video shoot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn a lawsuit submitted to state court in Los Angeles on Thursday (May 8), the lawyer for a woman going by Jane Doe says she\u2019s the victim of a \u201csustained campaign of sexual harassment, assault, stalking, fraud and workplace misconduct\u201d by Uproxx creative production director <strong>Steven Victor Vasquez Jr.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cDefendants\u2019 actions encompassing coerced sexual encounters, nonconsensual distribution of intimate images and persistent stalking constitute a profound violation of plaintiff\u2019s fundamental rights to bodily autonomy, privacy and professional dignity,\u201d writes Doe\u2019s attorney, <strong>James Bohm<\/strong>. \u201cThese acts have inflicted severe emotional trauma, physical harm and substantial economic loss.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tDoe, a Phoenix-based artist published by Warner Chappell, allegedly met Vasquez at a February 2024 Grammy brunch event hosted by Uproxx. Warner Music Group (WMG) owned Uproxx at the time but has since sold the entertainment news and production company. (WMG is not named as a defendant in the complaint.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAccording to Doe\u2019s attorney, Vasquez lured her into a series of unwanted sexual encounters by promising to secure her collaborations with Uproxx and lucrative deals with brands like Sour Patch Kids, Zillow, Sparkling Ice and McDonald\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn June 2024, for example, Vasquez allegedly convinced Doe to attend \u201cThe Gorge music festival\u201d (seemingly Beyond Wonderland at The Gorge) with him in Washington state. There, he apparently \u201cpressured her to share a room, plied her with alcohol and psychedelic mushrooms and appeared naked in her bed without consent, committing sexual assault.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tDoe\u2019s lawyer says Vasquez also forced her to look at pornographic images while on a trip to the Dominican Republic and engaged in other inappropriate behavior during an Uproxx event at Howard University and a video shoot for the R&amp;B singer Miguel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cVasquez gaslighted plaintiff, accused her of fictitious affairs, attempted to terminate an employee for complimenting her and pressured her for unprotected sex,\u201d writes Bohm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe lawsuit says Doe tried to cut off contact with Vasquez in December 2024, but he flew to her home in Arizona and demanded sexual favors, leading her to call the Phoenix Police Department. Vasquez continued to harass her with \u201cmessages, videos, sexually explicit images and gifts\u201d through April 2025, Doe\u2019s lawyer alleges.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe lawsuit brings a total of 16 claims, including sexual harassment, sexual battery and stalking, and it seeks more than $15 million in damages from both Vasquez and Uproxx.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBohm declined to comment on the lawsuit Friday (May 9).
