{"id":5713,"date":"2025-05-09T04:35:04","date_gmt":"2025-05-09T04:35:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usatrustedlawyers.com\/blog\/lil-durk-denied-jail-release-after-lyrics-deleted-from-indictment\/"},"modified":"2025-05-09T04:35:04","modified_gmt":"2025-05-09T04:35:04","slug":"lil-durk-denied-jail-release-after-lyrics-deleted-from-indictment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/usatrustedlawyers.com\/blog\/lil-durk-denied-jail-release-after-lyrics-deleted-from-indictment\/","title":{"rendered":"Lil Durk Denied Jail Release After Lyrics Deleted from Indictment"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<span>A<\/span> federal judge has denied Lil Durk\u2019s latest request to be released from jail as he awaits trial on murder-for-hire charges, unswayed by the argument of the Chicago drill star\u2019s attorney that his circumstances have dramatically changed following the removal of rap lyrics from his indictment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn a court order on Thursday (May 8), Magistrate Judge Patricia Donahue said Durk (Durk Banks) must remain behind bars after being charged with ordering a 2022 attack on rival rapper Quando Rondo that left another man dead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tDurk was arrested last year on an indictment that cited lyrics from his song \u201cWonderful Wayne &amp; Jackie Boy,\u201d in which he raps: \u201cTold me they got an addy (go, go)\/ Got location (go, go)\/ Green light (go, go, go, go, go). Look on the news and see your son\/You screamin\u2019, \u2018No, no\u2019 (pu\u2013y).\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tLos Angeles federal prosecutors originally claimed that these lyrics referenced the Rondo shooting. But a recently updated indictment removed the lyrics, as well as other allegations about a bounty payment, after Durk\u2019s legal team pointed out that \u201cWonderful Wayne\u201d was written and recorded seven months before the incident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tDurk\u2019s attorney, <strong>Drew Findling<\/strong>, subsequently argued that the rapper deserves to be free until his Oct. 14 trial start date because the \u201cwatered-down new indictment\u201d leaves just a \u201cweak patchwork of unsupported and non-specific allegations against Mr. Banks.\u201d But Judge Donahue is keeping Durk in jail, at least for now. The <em><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/california\/story\/2025-05-08\/judge-denies-lil-durk-bail\" target=\"_blank\">Los Angeles Times<\/a><\/em> reports that when issuing her decision in court Thursday, the judge cited a report that Durk has been using other inmates\u2019 jailhouse phone calls, thereby showing a \u201cdisrespect for the rules.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tFindling tells <em>Billboard<\/em> that his team will appeal this latest bail denial to District Judge Michael Fitzgerald, who has the power to reverse the magistrate judge\u2019s ruling.
