{"id":5345,"date":"2025-04-17T19:17:55","date_gmt":"2025-04-17T19:17:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usatrustedlawyers.com\/blog\/megan-thee-stallion-wants-tory-lanez-held-in-contempt-over-deposition\/"},"modified":"2025-04-17T19:17:55","modified_gmt":"2025-04-17T19:17:55","slug":"megan-thee-stallion-wants-tory-lanez-held-in-contempt-over-deposition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/usatrustedlawyers.com\/blog\/megan-thee-stallion-wants-tory-lanez-held-in-contempt-over-deposition\/","title":{"rendered":"Megan Thee Stallion Wants Tory Lanez Held In Contempt Over Deposition"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<span>A<\/span>ttorneys for <a href=\"https:\/\/billboard.com\/artist\/megan-thee-stallion\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Megan Thee Stallion<\/a> say <a href=\"https:\/\/billboard.com\/artist\/tory-lanez\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tory Lanez<\/a> must be held in contempt of court over \u201cdisruptive\u201d and \u201cinflammatory\u201d behavior during a recent deposition in a civil lawsuit that they say \u201cmade a mockery of the proceedings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn a motion filed Wednesday, lawyers for the rapper (Megan Pete) say Lanez (Daystar Peterson) \u2013 currently serving a 10-year prison sentence for shooting Megan in 2020 \u2013 behaved so poorly during the jail-house deposition that it had to be cancelled shortly after it started.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThey claim he \u201cfeigned ignorance regarding the definition of basic words\u201d and repeatedly harassed Megan\u2019s lawyer about her appearance. They also say he \u201cpretended that the video equipment was not working despite prison staff confirming it was functioning properly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cMr. Peterson made a mockery of the proceedings,\u201d Megan\u2019s attorneys write. \u201cNothing short of a contempt finding and meaningful sanctions will deter Mr. Peterson from continuing to abuse the process.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tOn Thursday, <strong>Judge Cecilia Altonaga<\/strong> gave Lanez until April 30 to explain why he shouldn\u2019t face such punishment: \u201cDaystar Peterson is ordered to show cause why he should not be held in contempt of court for violating the court\u2019s order authorizing his deposition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tLanez was convicted in December 2022 on three felony counts for shooting Megan in July 2020 during an argument following a pool party at Kylie Jenner\u2019s house in the Hollywood Hills. In August 2023, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He has filed an appeal, which remains pending.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThis week\u2019s dispute comes in a civil lawsuit Megan filed last year against social media personality <strong>Milagro Gramz<\/strong> (Milagro Cooper), who the star claims waged a \u201ccoordinated campaign\u201d with Lanez to \u201cdefame and delegitimize\u201d her in the wake of the shooting and trial. A judge ruled in February that the case could move ahead, saying Megan\u2019s allegations, if later proven, \u201cpaint a picture of an intentional campaign to destroy her reputation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAs part of that lawsuit, Megan\u2019s lawyers asked to depose Lanez from prison, saying it was necessary to investigate the extent of Gramz\u2019 alleged coordination with him. But in Wednesday\u2019s filing, Megan\u2019s attorneys say the sit-down \u201cproved to be a waste of time\u201d due to Lanez\u2019s \u201cegregious\u201d conduct.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAmong other alleged disruptions, they say Lanez repeatedly demanded dictionary definitions of basic terms before he would answer simple questions, such as the word \u201cmeet\u201d when they asked him if he had met with his attorneys ahead of the deposition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cIt could mean a lot of things. I mean meat could be a hot dog; meat could be a steak; meat could be red meat. It could be a lot of things,\u201d Lanez allegedly said, according to a transcript cited by Megan\u2019s lawyers. \u201cYou know what I\u2019m saying? You could watch porno. Meat \u2013 meat is a whole different thing over there. Meet can be anything. I\u2019m asking you what is your definition of \u2018meet.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tMegan\u2019s lawyers say that Lanez behavior was so bad that even his own lawyers have \u201cdisavowed it.\u201d In emails quoted in the filing, Gramz\u2019 attorney <strong>Michael Pancier<\/strong> allegedly said the incident had \u201cwasted our time as well\u201d and that he would not oppose \u201cany action you wish to take\u201d against Lanez.
