The jury cleared him of claims of false imprisonment or hostile work environment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tFollowing the month-long trial, the jury awarded the Jane Doe accuser $4 million in so-called compensatory damages. And they could award more in so-called punitive damages in future proceedings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe accuser, who says she was hired as Soulja Boy\u2019s assistant in 2018, sued the star in 2021, claiming he had repeatedly beaten and raped her over a two-year, sometimes consensual relationship. In one alleged assault, her lawyers claimed that \u201cWay attacked plaintiff so hard that she thought she was going to die.\u201d The rapper has \u201cvehemently and unequivocally\u201d denied the woman\u2019s allegations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tDuring closing arguments Monday (April 7), as reported by <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/soulja-boy-assault-trial-fake-glasses-closing-arguments-1235310239\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Rolling Stone<\/a><\/em>, attorneys for the Jane Doe portrayed Soulja Boy as a vicious boss and told jurors that \u201che raped her, he punched her, he kicked her, he cut her.\u201d The rapper\u2019s lawyers, meanwhile, painted the accuser as a bitter former love \u201cmotivated by jealousy, revenge and financial gain\u201d: \u201cShe wanted to be paid. That\u2019s what this case is all about. It\u2019s not about the truth, it\u2019s just not,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cWe\u2019re happy our client was vindicated and the jury believed her claims,\u201d said <strong>Ron Zambrano<\/strong>, the accuser\u2019s lead attorney. \u201cWe\u2019re looking forward to moving on to the punitive damages phase of the case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAn attorney for Soulja Boy did not immediately return a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThis isn\u2019t the first time Soulja Boy has faced such accusations.
