{"id":4403,"date":"2025-02-27T01:54:42","date_gmt":"2025-02-27T01:54:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usatrustedlawyers.com\/blog\/aap-rocky-gets-trial-date-in-aap-relli-civil-assault-case-report\/"},"modified":"2025-02-27T01:54:42","modified_gmt":"2025-02-27T01:54:42","slug":"aap-rocky-gets-trial-date-in-aap-relli-civil-assault-case-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/usatrustedlawyers.com\/blog\/aap-rocky-gets-trial-date-in-aap-relli-civil-assault-case-report\/","title":{"rendered":"A$AP Rocky Gets Trial Date in A$AP Relli Civil Assault Case: Report"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<span>J<\/span>ust over a week after A$AP Rocky (born Rakim Mayers) was found not guilty on all counts in his 2021 felony shooting case, A$AP Relli (born Terell Ephron) is moving forward with his civil lawsuit against the A$AP Mob frontman.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tOn Wednesday (Feb. 26), Los Angeles County Superior Court <strong>Judge William Fahey<\/strong> lifted a hold on Relli\u2019s assault and battery case against Rocky and set a trial date of Jan. 12, 2026, according to <em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/asap-rocky-rakim-mayers-accuser-relli-terell-ephron-civil-trial-rihanna-1235280894\/\">Rolling Stone<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tRelli\u2019s lawyer, <strong>Melisa Mikhail<\/strong>, reportedly appeared virtually at the hearing and said that her client had no plans of dropping the lawsuit while citing the lower burden of proof in a civil versus criminal court.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cWe intend to continue litigating this case,\u201d Mikail said. \u201cThe standard in a criminal case is much higher than the preponderance of the evidence standard in a civil matter. We still believe that our claims have merit, and we intend on fully litigating them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tDuring the hearing, Rocky\u2019s civil attorney <strong>James Sargent<\/strong> reportedly argued that \u201cthere\u2019s no longer a basis\u201d for the case. \u201cMr. Ephron testified in the criminal case as to the facts and circumstances,\u201d Sargent said. \u201cThe jury\u2019s acquittal speaks volumes as to how they valued that testimonial evidence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe next hearing in the civil lawsuit \u2014 which was originally filed in 2022 \u2014 is scheduled for May 28. <em>Billboard <\/em>has reached out to attorneys for both Relli and Rocky for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn both the criminal and civil cases, Rocky is accused of firing a weapon at Relli following a heated confrontation near a Hollywood hotel on Nov. 6, 2021. In the criminal trial, Relli maintained that he was grazed by gunfire, but Tacopina argued that the weapon was in fact a prop gun filled with blanks. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tRocky, who had faced two felony counts of assault with a firearm and a maximum of 24 years in prison in the criminal case, was acquitted by a jury on Feb. 18. Upon the reading of the verdict, the Harlem rapper embraced his attorney and then dove into the gallery to celebrate with his partner, <a href=\"https:\/\/billboard.com\/artist\/Rihanna\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rihanna<\/a>.
