Attorney&#8217;s Suit Against Former Employer, City Solicitor Can Continue in Federal Court"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div data-v-e97bc92c=\"\">\n<div data-v-e97bc92c=\"\">\n<p>A Massachusetts federal judge allowed an attorney and former employee of the Revere City Solicitor&#8217;s Office to proceed with her unlawful discrimination and retaliation<a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.mad.271473\/gov.uscourts.mad.271473.42.0.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> <u>lawsuit<\/u><\/a> after denying the defendants\u2019 claims of court procedural errors.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>  <!----> <!----> <!----><\/p>\n<div data-v-e97bc92c=\"\">\n<p>In a memorandum and order filed on Feb. 12, U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani denied the the city of Revere and its city solicitor Paul Capizzi\u2019s move for a partial dismissal under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/rules\/frcp\/rule_12\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><u>Rule 12(b)(6)<\/u><\/a> and a complete dismissal under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/rules\/frcp\/rule_41\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><u>Rule 41(b)<\/u><\/a> of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p> <!----> <!----> <!----> <!----><\/p>\n<div data-v-e97bc92c=\"\">\n<p>Plaintiff Cheryl A. Leon-McCormick sued the city and city solicitor in July 2024, listing nine causes of action. She claimed both defendants committed gender discrimination, retaliation and privacy violations along with denying her equal pay and violating federal labor laws.
