{"id":4137,"date":"2025-02-12T23:11:05","date_gmt":"2025-02-12T23:11:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usatrustedlawyers.com\/blog\/diddy-files-100m-defamation-lawsuit-over-peacock-documentary\/"},"modified":"2025-02-12T23:11:05","modified_gmt":"2025-02-12T23:11:05","slug":"diddy-files-100m-defamation-lawsuit-over-peacock-documentary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/usatrustedlawyers.com\/blog\/diddy-files-100m-defamation-lawsuit-over-peacock-documentary\/","title":{"rendered":"Diddy Files $100M Defamation Lawsuit Over Peacock Documentary"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tSean \u201cDiddy\u201d Combs<strong> <\/strong>filed a lawsuit on Wednesday (Feb. 12) against NBCUniversal, claiming the company defamed him with the Peacock documentary <em>Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAccording to documents filed in New York state court, Combs\u2019 lawsuit claims the documentary \u2014 which debuted on Peacock in January \u2014 knowingly defamed him by making false murder and sex trafficking allegations, among other claims, which his attorneys say there is no credible evidence to support.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cThe entire premise of the Documentary assumes that Mr. Combs has committed numerous heinous crimes, including serial murder, rape of minors, and sex trafficking of minors, and attempts to crudely psychologize him,\u201d the lawsuit reads. \u201cIt maliciously and baselessly jumps to the conclusion that Mr. Combs is a \u2018monster\u2019 and \u2018an embodiment of Lucifer\u2019 with \u2018a lot of similarities\u2019 to Jeffrey Epstein.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAccording to the lawsuit, the documentary \u201cmaliciously\u201d claims that Diddy played a role in the deaths of his ex-wife Kim Porter, Christopher \u201cThe Notorious B.I.G.\u201d Wallace and Dwight \u201cHeavy D\u201d Myers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe documentary \u201cshamelessly advances conspiracy theories that lack any foundation in reality,\u201d the suit adds, \u201crepeatedly insinuating that Mr. Combs is a serial killer because it cannot be a \u2018coincidence\u2019 that multiple people in Mr. Combs\u2019s orbit have died.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tCombs is seeking $100 million in damages from the multimedia giant.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cAs described in today\u2019s lawsuit, NBCUniversal Media, LLC, Peacock TV, LLC, and Ample LLC made a conscious decision to line their own pockets at the expense of truth, decency, and basic standards of professional journalism,\u201d Diddy\u2019s attorney, <strong>Erica Wolff<\/strong>, said in a statement. \u201cGrossly exploiting the trust of their audience and racing to outdo their competition for the most salacious Diddy expos\u00e9, Defendants maliciously and recklessly broadcast outrageous lies in<em> Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tWolff continued: \u201cIn the purported documentary, Defendants accuse Mr.\u00a0Combs of horrible crimes, including serial murder and sexual assault of minors \u2014 knowing that there is no evidence to support them<strong>. \u00a0<\/strong>In making and broadcasting these falsehoods, among others, Defendants seek only to capitalize on the public\u2019s appetite for scandal without any regard for the truth and at the expense of Mr. Combs\u2019s right to a fair trial. Mr. Combs brings this lawsuit to hold Defendants accountable for the extraordinary damage their reckless statements have caused.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<em>Billboard<\/em> has reached out to NBCUniversal for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tCombs has remained behind bars since his arrest in September on sex trafficking and racketeering charges. He\u2019s accused of being the face of a multi-faceted criminal enterprise with the goal of satisfying his sexual fantasies, including by hosting so-called \u201cfreak-off\u201d parties. The disgraced hip-hop mogul has repeatedly been denied bail and will stay in the custody of Brooklyn\u2019s Metropolitan Detention Center until his trial begins on May 5. He faces life in prison if convicted on all charges.
