{"id":4081,"date":"2025-02-08T04:27:35","date_gmt":"2025-02-08T04:27:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usatrustedlawyers.com\/blog\/megan-thee-stallion-wins-ruling-in-lawsuit-against-youtuber-gramz\/"},"modified":"2025-02-08T04:27:35","modified_gmt":"2025-02-08T04:27:35","slug":"megan-thee-stallion-wins-ruling-in-lawsuit-against-youtuber-gramz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/usatrustedlawyers.com\/blog\/megan-thee-stallion-wins-ruling-in-lawsuit-against-youtuber-gramz\/","title":{"rendered":"Megan Thee Stallion Wins Ruling In Lawsuit Against YouTuber Gramz"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tMegan Thee Stallion can proceed with a defamation lawsuit accusing social media personality Milagro Gramz of waging a \u201ccampaign of harassment\u201d against the star on behalf of Tory Lanez, a federal judge says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe rapper sued Gramz (Milagro Cooper) last year, claiming the YouTuber had been \u201cchurning out falsehoods\u201d about the high-profile criminal case against Lanez, in which he was convicted of shooting Megan in the foot during a 2020 dispute in the Hollywood Hills.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn a 25-page decision on Friday (Feb. 7), Judge Cecilia Altonaga denied a request by Gramz to dismiss the case, saying Megan had made a \u201ccompelling case\u201d that the blogger had defamed her by claiming the star lied during Lanez\u2019s trial and that she was \u201cmentally retarded.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cPlaintiff\u2019s claims extend far beyond mere negligence \u2014 they paint a picture of an intentional campaign to destroy her reputation,\u201d the judge wrote. \u201cThat is more than enough to [deny the motion to dismiss].\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe judge also refused to dismiss Megan\u2019s other claims against Gramz, including that Gramz had violated a Florida state law by sharing a pornographic \u201cdeepfake\u201d of the rapper. Defense attorneys had argued that Gramz had not actually shared the clip merely by \u201cliking\u201d it on X, but Judge Altonaga noted Friday that she\u2019d allegedly done more than that.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cBy \u2018liking\u2019 an X.com post that featured the deepfake video, the video was exhibited on defendant\u2019s X.com account\u2019s \u2018Likes\u2019 page,\u201d the judge wrote. \u201cDefendant also brought the video \u2018before the public\u2019 when she allegedly directed viewers of her post to click on her \u2018Likes\u2019 page where the video had been archived.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe judge did dismiss one claim \u2014 Megan\u2019s accusation of cyberstalking \u2014 but allowed her to refile the case this month to try to fix the error.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn a statement to <em>Billboard<\/em>, Gramz\u2019s attorney <strong>Michael A. Pancier<\/strong> stressed that the decision was an early-stage ruling subject only to a \u201cmore lenient legal standard\u201d and that \u201cmany of these issues will be revisited at a later stage following the completion of the discovery process.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cThis decision does not reflect a determination on the merits of the case,\u201d Pancier said. \u201cThe plaintiff must now substantiate her claims with credible and admissible evidence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tA rep for Megan declined to comment on the ruling.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tLanez (Daystar Peterson) was convicted in December 2022 on three felony counts over the violent 2020 incident, in which he shot at the feet of Megan during an argument following a pool party at Kylie Jenner\u2019s house in the Hollywood Hills. In August 2023, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He has filed an appeal, which remains pending.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn an October lawsuit, Megan\u2019s attorneys accused Gramz of repeatedly spreading falsehoods about that criminal case, including questioning whether Megan was even shot and claiming she was \u201ccaught trying to deceive the courts.\u201d More recently, they said Gramz had pushed the \u201coutlandish claim\u201d that the gun Lanez used in the shooting had gone missing from evidence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe lawsuit claimed the blogger made those claims because she was serving as a \u201cmouthpiece and puppet\u201d for Lanez as the singer sat behind bars.
