Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cIt has been our honor and privilege to represent, protect, and defend Britney Spears,\u201d said Spears\u2019 attorney, <strong>Mathew Rosengart<\/strong>, in a statement sent to <em>Billboard<\/em>. \u201cAlthough the conservatorship was terminated in November, 2021, her wish for freedom is now truly complete. As she desired, her freedom now includes that she will no longer need to attend or be involved with court or entangled with legal proceedings in this matter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn his own statement, Jamie\u2019s attorney, <strong>Alex Weingarten<\/strong>, said, \u201cAt the insistence of counsel for Ms. Spears, the settlement is confidential and I cannot discuss it. Jamie has nothing to hide and would be happy to disclose everything about every aspect of the conservatorship so that the public knows the actual truth. Jamie loves his daughter very much and has always done everything he can to protect her.\u201d\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tA legal scuffle ensued in the wake of the conservatorship\u2019s dissolution in November 2021, when Rosengart vowed to investigate alleged misconduct by Spears\u2019 father, <strong>Jamie Spears<\/strong>, during the years he served as his daughter\u2019s conservator \u2014 including claims that he took millions from her estate, tried to control her with drugs and denied her the freedom to remove a birth control device. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tConflict also arose over Jamie\u2019s request in December 2021 that Britney\u2019s estate continue paying his legal fees, arguing that the conservatorship\u2019s termination did not end his ongoing \u201cfiduciary obligations\u201d and that he could face \u201cpersonal bankruptcy and ruin\u201d if his request was turned down. Rosengart responded by calling the request \u201cnot only legally meritless, but an abomination.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBritney was placed in a conservatorship controlled by her father in 2008 following a string of public breakdowns.
