{"id":3266,"date":"2024-11-08T22:36:52","date_gmt":"2024-11-08T22:36:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usatrustedlawyers.com\/blog\/lil-durk-song-lyrics-quoted-in-new-charges-over-quando-rondo-shooting\/"},"modified":"2024-11-08T22:36:52","modified_gmt":"2024-11-08T22:36:52","slug":"lil-durk-song-lyrics-quoted-in-new-charges-over-quando-rondo-shooting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/usatrustedlawyers.com\/blog\/lil-durk-song-lyrics-quoted-in-new-charges-over-quando-rondo-shooting\/","title":{"rendered":"Lil Durk Song Lyrics Quoted In New Charges Over Quando Rondo Shooting"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tFederal prosecutors are citing Lil Durk\u2019s lyrics in the criminal case accusing him of ordering his OTF associates to murder rapper Quando Rondo in a 2022 shooting, arguing he sought to \u201ccommercialize\u201d the crime by \u201crapping about his revenge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tTwo weeks after the Chicago rapper (<strong>Durk Banks<\/strong>) was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, prosecutors unveiled a new indictment Friday over the 2022 attack at a Los Angeles gas station, which left Rondo (<strong>Tyquian Bowman<\/strong>) unscathed but saw friend Lul Pab (<strong>Saviay\u2019a Robinson<\/strong>) killed in the crossfire.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe updated indictment added two additional felony counts against Durk on top of the original conspiracy charge, including another murder-for-hire count and a firearms count. It also consolidated Durk\u2019s case with similar charges filed against several of his associates.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBut most notably, the amended charges included a brand new allegation: That Durk had directly referenced the shooting in a 2022 song: \u201cFollowing the attempted murder of [Rondo] and the murder of [Lul Pab], defendant Banks sought to commercialize [Lul Pab]\u2019s death by rapping about his revenge on [Rondo].\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe feds claim that the lyrics to Durk\u2019s song \u2014 a track called \u201cWonderful Wayne &amp; Jackie Boy\u201d \u2014 make direct reference to a news clip filmed shortly after the shooting, in which Rondo can be heard screaming \u201cno, no!\u201d after seeing Lul Pab\u2019s dead body.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cTold me they got an addy (go, go)\/ Got location (go, go)\/ Green light (go, go, go, go, go),\u201d Durk raps in the lyrics referenced in the indictment. \u201cLook on the news and see your son\/You screamin\u2019, \u201cNo, no\u201d (pu\u2013y).\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe use of rap music as evidence in criminal cases is controversial, as critics argue it threatens free speech and can sway juries by tapping into racial biases. Over the past few years, the practice has drawn backlash from the music industry and led to efforts by lawmakers to stop it.
