Court Finds 2nd Amendment Protections Cover Switchblades"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div>\n<p>The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court struck down a nearly 70-year-old law this week, finding\u00a0it is lawful for its residents to carry switchblades based on Second Amendment protections established through a\u00a0recent U.S. Supreme Court decision.<\/p>\n<p>The commonwealth\u2019s high court reversed\u00a0a lower court\u2019s denial of a motion to dismiss by the defendant, David E. Canjura, relating to charges of\u00a0unlawfully possessing a switchblade.\u00a0The court concluded that a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/malegislature.gov\/Laws\/GeneralLaws\/Partiv\/Titlei\/Chapter269\/Section10\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">1957 law<\/a>\u00a0banning possession of spring-release pocketknives, commonly referred to as switchblades, violated the right to keep and bear arms preserved in the U.S. Constitution\u2019s Second Amendment, <a href=\"https:\/\/images.law.com\/contrib\/content\/uploads\/documents\/292\/189980\/p13432.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">according to a unanimous decision<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0<em>Commonwealth v. David E.
