{"id":2120,"date":"2024-08-01T20:07:10","date_gmt":"2024-08-01T20:07:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usatrustedlawyers.com\/blog\/juice-wrld-estate-faces-lawsuit-over-girl-of-my-dreams-royalties\/"},"modified":"2024-08-01T20:07:10","modified_gmt":"2024-08-01T20:07:10","slug":"juice-wrld-estate-faces-lawsuit-over-girl-of-my-dreams-royalties","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/usatrustedlawyers.com\/blog\/juice-wrld-estate-faces-lawsuit-over-girl-of-my-dreams-royalties\/","title":{"rendered":"Juice WRLD Estate Faces Lawsuit Over &#8216;Girl of My Dreams&#8217; Royalties"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe estate of the late rapper Juice WRLD is being sued by a music producer named Joshua Jaramillo, who claims he\u2019s owed royalties from the late rapper\u2019s 2021 collab with Suga of BTS.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn a lawsuit filed Wednesday (July 31) in Los Angeles court, Jaramillo says he served as a producer on \u201cGirl of My Dreams,\u201d a 2021 hit that debuted at No. 29 on the Hot 100, and that he was promised a 5% ownership stake and an additional 1% producer royalty.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBut \u201cdespite repeated requests by plaintiff,\u201d Jaramillo says the estate has not paid him everything he\u2019s owed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cPlaintiff has performed all services under the contract. \u2018Girl of My Dreams\u2019 became a nationwide hit,\u201d Jaramillo\u2019s lawyers write. \u201cDefendant has failed to pay plaintiff the full amount of agreed upon royalties.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe lawsuit, which is short on details, also claims that the estate has refused to provide a legally-required accounting \u201cto verify that all royalties were paid.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tA rep for the estate could not immediately be reached for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tJuice WRLD (Jarad Anthony Higgins), a pioneering voice in emo rap and SoundCloud rap, died of a drug overdose in December 2019 while onboard a private jet flying from Los Angeles to Chicago. Citing law enforcement sources, <em>TMZ<\/em> reported days later that the rapper swallowed a large number of pills to hide them from federal agents who were waiting for the plane to land.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tReleased as a promotional single for his posthumous 2021 album, <em>Fighting Demons<\/em>, \u201cGirl of My Dreams\u201d was a collaboration with South Korean rapper Suga and features lyrics in both English and Korean. Though the track spent just a week on the Billboard Hot 100, <em>Fighting Demons<\/em> was a bigger hit, spending 72 weeks on the Billboard 200 and peaking at No. 2.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe new case is the second time Juice\u2019s estate has been sued over the past year.
