\n\tDJ Quik sat down with TSR Live<\/em> recently and was asked about his son\u2019s conviction on second degree murder charges last year, saying he\u2019s \u201changing in there.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe legendary producer\u2019s son, born David Marvin Blake, Jr., was convicted of second degree murder in December stemming from a 2022 shooting in a Los Angeles suburb that killed 33-year-old Julio Moises Cardoza Jr. Blake was sentenced to 15 years to life<\/a> back in February.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen asked about how his son was coping with things, Quik relayed that his son has been remaining positive despite his current circumstances.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cLil Dave is hanging in there,\u201d he said. \u201cI like to say that he\u2019s built for it and he knows he\u2019s been put in a position to where he was scapegoated. If y\u2019all would\u2019ve been in the court with us while we were watching this trial play out, it was a lot of madness.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe also revealed that an appeal has been filed, telling The Shade Room<\/em> that Blake\u2019s lawyer has been \u201cdiligent about it.\u201d Quik also added that he gets emotional when people ask about his son in public and pleaded with fans to stop asking whenever they run into him. \u201cI\u2019m a little bit too emotional to be in public because when people ask me about it in public, I don\u2019t respond with [kindness],\u201d he admitted. \u201cAnd I\u2019m not going to apologize for that. Stop asking me about my son in public.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tQuik then added that his son has already accepted his fate. \u201cDavid has already accepted what\u2019s happened. He accepted his role in it and he\u2019s like, \u2018Whatever it\u2019s gonna be is gonna be,’\u201d he said. \u201cIf they gave him 25 years, he\u2019s gonna do it. That\u2019s the kinda person he is. That\u2019s the kinda person he\u2019s built to be. Like everybody else, he made a mistake. Just like the judge said \u2014 she said, \u2018I commend you for going 27 years without having no police interaction, period.\u2019 He was raised right. He just made a mistake.\u201d<\/p>\n
