You cannot waive it, you cannot sell it: The whole point was for it to be available <em>years later<\/em>, when an artist would get a \u201csecond bite at the apple\u201d after it was clear how much their music was really worth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBut termination is not automatic, as many artists have learned the hard way. You can\u2019t take your music back if a judge says you recorded it as a work for hire (and the labels say almost every album was). You can\u2019t get it back if you <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.nysd.509551\/gov.uscourts.nysd.509551.68.0_1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">used a loan-out company<\/a>, a common tax structure for musicians.
