Coli Contamination Lawsuit"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tLil Baby\u2019s hemp company is facing counterclaims after accusing its joint venture partner of shipping illegal and contaminated cannabis products across the country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe rapper\u2019s business entity, The Holding Co., sued Florida cannabis company Bay Smokes in April for allegedly mishandling his WHAM product line, which was marketed as a low-THC hemp product that was legal nationwide. The Holding Co. claimed it tested the product and found THC levels of 22% \u2014 far above the federal limit of 0.3% \u2014 as well as microbes like E. coli, yeast and mold.<\/p>\n<div class=\"injected-related-story \/\/ lrv-u-align-items-center u-align-items-flex-start@mobile-max  lrv-u-background-color-grey-lightest  lrv-u-flex lrv-u-flex-direction-column@mobile-max u-width-710@desktop lrv-u-margin-lr-auto lrv-u-margin-tb-1 u-margin-b-250@mobile-max u-margin-t-275@mobile-max u-margin-t-250@desktop u-margin-b-250@desktop u-margin-lr-n1@mobile-max lrv-u-border-b-1 lrv-u-border-color-brand-secondary-dark lrv-u-border-t-1 lrv-u-padding-tb-1  lrv-u-padding-tb-1@mobile-max lrv-u-padding-r-1@mobile-max lrv-u-padding-l-00@mobile-max u-grid-gap-18@desktop u-grid-gap-0@mobile-max\">\n<h3 id=\"title-of-a-story\" class=\"c-title  a-article-related-module-title a-article-related-module-title--color-brand-primary a-font-accent-xl u-font-weight-800 u-letter-spacing-0179 u-line-height-normal lrv-u-color-grey-dark bb-pro-related-stories-label lrv-u-text-transform-uppercase\">\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tRelated\t\t<\/p>\n<\/h3>\n<div class=\"injected-related-story-wrapper lrv-u-flex lrv-u-justify-content-space-between  a-children-border-vertical a-children-border--grey a-children-border-width-050\">\n<div class=\"o-card  lrv-u-width-100p\">\n<div class=\"o-card__image-wrap lrv-u-flex-shrink-0 u-width-191 u-width-150@mobile-max\">\n<div class=\"c-lazy-image   lrv-u-margin-b-00@mobile-max u-width-130px@mobile-max lrv-u-margin-b-00@mobile-max\">\n<div class=\"a-crop-6x4 a-crop-3x2@mobile-max\">\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBay Smokes has denied these allegations, telling <em>Billboard <\/em>in an April statement, \u201cWe stand by the quality and legality of all of our hemp products, which undergo independent third-party laboratory testing.\u201d Now, the cannabis company is accusing The Holding Co. of breaching a confidentiality and non-disparagement clause from their joint venture deal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cThe complaint filed by plaintiff in this action publishes false allegations of product contamination that are directly contradicted by Bay Smokes\u2019s contemporaneous October 10, 2025, certificate of analysis for the \u2018THCA Flower Gelato 45\u2019 batch that plaintiff purports to have independently tested,\u201d reads Bay Smokes\u2019 Thursday (June 11) countersuit, obtained and first reported by <em>Billboard<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe countersuit also alleges that The Holding Co.\u2019s principal, <strong>Eric Anderson<\/strong>, has further disparaged Bay Smokes to customers at industry trade shows \u201cwhile steering those customers to competing sources of supply in which plaintiff\u2019s principal holds an undisclosed personal financial interest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBay Smokes is seeking financial damages from The Holding Co. for its alleged contract violations, including a refund of legal fees. It also claims The Holding Co. has been overpaid by more than $206,000 in its share of the joint venture profits.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tReps for Lil Baby and The Holding Co. did not immediately return requests for comment on Friday (June 12).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe Holding Co. and Bay Smokes formed their joint venture in 2024 for a WHAM hemp line, named for Lil Baby\u2019s nickname. This would go on to be the title of the rapper\u2019s 2025 album <em>WHAM<\/em>, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn the April lawsuit, The Holding Co. alleged Bay Smokes had tarnished Lil Baby\u2019s reputation by associating his trademarks with \u201cunauthorized illegal cannabis sales, concealed sales, contaminated products and unlawful conduct.\u201d The suit also claimed that Bay Smokes\u2019 founders were inappropriately marketing the cannabis brand with \u201cerotic videos.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubpass.co\/billboard\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/2HpFicp.png\" alt=\"Billboard VIP Pass\" style=\"max-width: 100%;height: auto\" title=\"\"><br \/><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lil Baby\u2019s hemp company is facing counterclaims after accusing its joint venture partner of shipping illegal and contaminated cannabis products across the country.
