The decision will keep Min in her role as CEO, by extension allowing her to stay in control of the label\u2019s sole artist, girl group NewJeans.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAs <em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2024-05-30\/k-pop-producer-wins-court-ruling-to-keep-control-of-newjeans?embedded-checkout=true\" target=\"_blank\">Bloomberg<\/a><\/em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2024-05-30\/k-pop-producer-wins-court-ruling-to-keep-control-of-newjeans?embedded-checkout=true\" target=\"_blank\"> cites<\/a> from local Korean coverage, \u201cThe Seoul Central District Court said HYBE\u2019s evidence and rationale were not sufficient to back the company\u2019s case for Min\u2019s dismissal.\u201d Despite HYBE\u2019s 80% stake in ADOR (where Min has an 18% stake, with the last 2% retained by other executives), the company cannot vote to dismiss Min, which it was expected to do at a company shareholder meeting scheduled for Friday (May 31).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cWe urge HYBE to respect the court\u2019s decision,\u201d Min\u2019s attorney said in a statement, per <em>Bloomberg<\/em>. \u201cIf Hybe takes any action to remove Min from her position as CEO, it will be in direct violation of the shareholders\u2019 agreement.\u201d The legal reps shared their hope that Min\u2019s leadership team at ADOR would also stay intact.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn its own statement, HYBE acknowledged the court\u2019s decision and said it would not utilize its voting rights but vowed to \u201cfollow up within the framework of the law.\u201d The company noted that the court admitted Min had sought ways to weaken HYBE\u2019s control over ADOR \u2014 efforts that could have led to Min independently running ADOR, taking NewJeans out of the HYBE system or pressuring HYBE to sell its shares in the subsidiary label. The company say sit still plans to pursue its breach of trust case after finding \u201csubstantial evidence to prove that Min deliberately led the plan to take over management control of the subsidiary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn the meantime, the 2023 Billboard Women in Music honoree will be able to continue directing NewJeans following ADOR\u2019s release of two new singles from the group: \u201cHow Sweet\u201d and \u201cBubble Gum.\u201d The group\u2019s debut Japanese single, \u201cSupernatural\u201d \u2014 which <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mk.co.kr\/news\/musics\/11014025\" target=\"_blank\">reportedly reinterprets<\/a> a \u201900s Pharrell single \u2014 is set to drop in June. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tDespite the court ruling, the ongoing K-pop power struggle is hardly resolved, and in fact has only widened since HYBE\u2019s initial audit in April.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tFollowing HYBE\u2019s request for her to exit her role as ADOR CEO, Min held an emotional two-hour press conference in which she detailed her concerns and struggles with other teams in the HYBE LABELS system. As<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/05\/12\/world\/asia\/newjeans-kpop-controversy-hybe.html\" target=\"_blank\"> <\/a><em>The New York Times<\/em>\u2018<em> <\/em>Seoul reporter Jin Yu Young noted <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/05\/12\/world\/asia\/newjeans-kpop-controversy-hybe.html\" target=\"_blank\">in her report<\/a>, Min\u2019s \u201cpushback against HYBE and its founder, Bang Si-Hyuk, has resonated widely in South Korea, where corporate life can be punishingly hierarchal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tLast week, HYBE label BELIFT LAB announced it had submitted a letter of complaint for obstruction of business and defamation against Min stemming from Min\u2019s claims that BELIFT girl group <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/billboard.com\/music\/illit\" target=\"_blank\">ILLIT<\/a> had copied NewJeans music, style and creative concept.
