\n\tD4vd has been arrested on suspicion of murdering Celeste Rivas, the teenage girl whose dismembered body was found in the singer\u2019s car this past fall. The singer\u2019s attorneys say they\u2019ll \u201cvigorously defend\u201d his innocence.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Thursday (April 16) arrest of the 21-year-old \u201cRomantic Homicide\u201d singer (born David Anthony Burke)\u00a0is the stunning culmination of a lengthy investigation into the death of Rivas, who went missing from her home in Lake Elsinore, Calif.,\u00a0at the age of 13\u00a0in April 2024. Los Angeles police discovered Rivas\u2019\u00a0partial, decomposed remains in the front trunk of an impounded Tesla registered to D4vd\u00a0in September.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Los Angeles Police Department said D4vd is being held without bail, and his case will be presented to the District Attorney\u2019s office for filing consideration on Monday.<\/p>\n

\n\tThree attorneys representing D4vd \u2013 Blair Berk<\/strong>, Marilyn Bednarski<\/strong> and Regina Peter<\/strong> \u2013 said in a statement Thursday, \u201cLet us be clear \u2013 the actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and he was not the cause of her death. There has been no indictment returned by any grand jury in this case and no criminal complaint filed. David has only been detained under suspicion. We will vigorously defend David\u2019s innocence.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tD4vd\u2019s name has been connected to Rivas\u2019 since police responded to reports of a \u201cfoul odor\u201d coming from a Tesla registered in his name in a Hollywood tow lot this past September. Officers discovered two bags containing severed, decomposed body parts that were later identified as Rivas \u2013 including a head, torso and limbs.<\/p>\n

\n\tA lengthy criminal investigation followed. D4vd was officially confirmed as a suspect in February, when the singer\u2019s family members filed public court petitions seeking to avoid testifying before a grand jury.<\/p>\n

\n\tD4vd got his start in music while livestreaming video games in the early 2020s, and his first single \u201cRomantic Homicide\u201d went viral on TikTok in July 2022. The song eventually peaked at No. 33 on the Billboard Hot 100, and he followed up with the No. 60 single \u201cHere With Me.\u201d D4vd quickly got noticed by the major record labels, and he signed with Darkroom\/Interscope Records in September 2022.<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter releasing two EPs and opening for SZA\u2019s blockbuster SOS Tour in 2023, D4vd dropped his debut album Withered<\/em> this past April. The album opened at No. 13 on the Billboard 200, and he embarked on a headlining tour in August.<\/p>\n

\n\tBut D4vd\u2019s career came to an abrupt halt with the discovery of Rivas\u2019 body on Sept. 8. The remaining dates of his Withered World Tour were canceled, and Interscope appeared to shelve a deluxe version of the album that had been set for release on Sept. 19.<\/p>\n
