\t\t\t\tIf you look at this year\u2019s ABA Techshow<\/a> advertising material, you could be forgiven for thinking that you were reading a comic book. Between the cartoon-style illustrations and the comic book-style captions and headings on the brochure and website, it\u2019s clear what motif that the Techshow planners were going for was.<\/p>\n

Perhaps that\u2019s appropriate, given how quickly generative artificial intelligence tools have established a foothold in the legal industry. Like a superhero\u2014or perhaps more accurately, a superhero\u2019s sidekick\u2014AI has helped save the day for a lot of lawyers.<\/p>\n

Of course, comics also bring up another image for AI\u2014one that isn\u2019t so warm and fuzzy. So is generative AI more like Robin, Kato or Krypto the Superdog? Or is it more like Skynet, Brainiac or Ultron? Or maybe somewhere in between?<\/p>\n

Burney spent over five years at Thompson Hine, where he worked with litigation teams in building document databases, counseling on electronic discovery issues and supporting them at trial. He graduated from the University of Dayton School of Law in 2000 and quickly became active in the world of legal technology.<\/p>\n
