Stolen Trade Secrets Could Give Rival a Competitive Edge in Responding to Tariffs, Samsung Alleges in Non-Compete Suit

When a Samsung Electronics sales team member was promoted to a senior product marketing management position, she signed a non-compete clause agreeing not to take a similar position at a competing company for six months after leaving. However, a month after announcing her resignation, several Samsung employees saw the ex-manager at a trade show approaching former customers on behalf of her new company’s direct competitor, Midea, the international electronics giant has alleged in a new lawsuit. Samsung launched an investigation into what the employee was up to and claims that it learned the employee secretly forwarded spreadsheets with Samsung’s sales data to a personal email address before leaving the company.
