Netflix Privacy Chief Jumps to Uber

Krystal Denley Bowen has stepped down as privacy chief of Netflix to take the same role at Uber Technologies, which is continuing to prioritize data protection after suffering a rash of compliance problems under a prior management team.

The San Francisco-based ride-hailing giant said Bowen’s first day as Uber’s chief privacy officer is Monday. She is succeeding Ruby Zefo, who became Uber’s first chief privacy officer in August 2018 and retired from the role in August of this year. She’d joined the ride-hailing giant after a 15-year run at Intel, where she held a variety of senior roles, including chief privacy officer.
