Judge Dismisses Attorney’s Suit Accusing Counsel of Spreading ‘Fake News’

A federal judge in Missouri dismissed a former client’s suit against a St. Louis law firm and attorneys after he claimed counsel spread fake news stories to various media about a purported connection to former Gov. Eric Greitens in an attempt to be granted clemency.

In a June 14 opinion, U.S. District Judge Henry Edward Autrey for the Eastern Division of Missouri dismissed the claims brought by the plaintiff, Paul Henreid, for breach of fiduciary duty and fraud against the firm, Kodner Watkins, and its founding and managing partner, Albert Watkins, and attorney Michael Schwade. Henreid claims he solely sought to have his criminal record expunged.
