Federal artificial intelligence policy has seen a dizzying array of developments in recent months, from President Joe Biden’s executive order on AI safety signed last fall to Senate Majority Leader Chuck’s Schumer’s framework for AI regulation released this week. It can be overwhelming for in-house counsel trying to advise the business on the most-pressing twists and turns.
In an online discussion on AI regulation hosted by In-House Connect Thursday, panelists said that, while in-house counsel need to monitor federal AI activity, they should keep a closer eye in the short term on the growing number of narrowly tailored state laws and how they might apply to specific company-use cases.
