Florida Federal Judge Sanctions Attorney in Litigation Against DaBaby

The U.S. District Court in the Southern District of Florida sanctioned Miami attorney Jonathan May for improper litigation tactics over the claims brought by his clients, two event promoters, who sued Jonathan “DaBaby” Kirk, his record label and others, in a 65-page ruling.

The case stemmed from a physical altercation that is alleged to have occurred on Jan. 2, 2020, at the Novotel Hotel in Miami, where the plaintiffs, Kenneth Carey and Steve Anyadike, claimed they had entered into a performance agreement with Kirk. The promoters claimed that Kirk and four unidentified individuals who assaulted them were part of a larger conspiracy involving the rap artist’s record label, Universal Music Group and Interscope Records.
