A Missouri appellate court ruled that Planned Parenthood must turn over documents sought by the state for gender affirming health care services for youth, rejecting the lower court’s finding that only the patient can allow their medical records to be released.
On Tuesday, the Missouri Court of Appeals for the Eastern District reversed a ruling that Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri, also known as Planned Parenthood Great Rivers, did not have to turn over the information relating to the Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey’s civil investigative demand (CID) into whether the facility violated Missouri’s consumer protection law by providing gender-affirming healthcare services for minors. The three-judge panel concluded the demand didn’t seek privileged or private health information.
