The operator of the largest cryptocurrency exchange is facing an antiterrorism complaint in the Southern District of New York from 270 direct and indirect victims who claimed that it knowingly facilitated the transfer of millions of dollars’ worth of cryptocurrency to and from terrorist groups “deliberately to gain a business advantage.”
Ryan Sparacino, the managing partner at Sparacino, which has offices in Washington, D.C., and Chicago, Illinois, represents the plaintiffs and said that they are the first ever to bring antiterrorism act claims against a former CEO, in this case, former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao, who pleaded guilty to related conduct. Binance Holdings Ltd. is also a defendant.
