Antitrust Enforcers See Bipartisan Concern Over Market Concentration

Strong antitrust enforcement will be one of the few areas of continuity between the Biden and Trump administrations, Federal Trade Commission Chair Andrew Ferguson and Gail Slater, the U.S. Department of Justice’s chief antitrust enforcer, said Wednesday.

“The most revealing part to me of the whole [confirmation] process was meeting with individual senators, Republican and Democrat, all of whom share a concern about concentration within our economy,” Slater said at the Capitol Forum in Washington. “I think Republicans are seeing a lot of what Democrats have seen in the previous administration—there’s a through line from the first Trump term to today.”
