Adobe Traps Customers Into Pricey Renewals, FTC Alleges in Latest Assault on ‘Dark Patterns’ -The Federal Trade Commission sued software giant Adobe on Monday, alleging it violated consumer protection laws by enrolling customers in its priciest annual subscription plan and then saddling them with onerous “stealth” cancellation fees and hurdles.
“Americans are tired of companies hiding the ball during subscription signup and then putting up roadblocks when they try to cancel. The FTC will continue working to protect Americans from these illegal business practices,” Sam Levine, director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection, said in a statement Monday.
