Paul Hastings Secures Dismissal of Embezzlement Case Against Silicon Valley Executive

A San Francisco federal judge on Wednesday dismissed a high-profile embezzlement case against Aubrey Jackson Shelton II, who was accused of misappropriating more than $2.7 million in funds from a Silicon Valley tech startup now owned by Yelp, after a mistrial was declared in March. Shelton was represented by a team from Paul Hastings.

District Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley, who presides in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, released a one-page order dismissing the 12-count indictment against Shelton after the plaintiff, the United States, opted not to re-try the case, citing the “financial harm a second trial would cause the victim.”
