Coinbase was hit with nationwide class action lawsuits in California and New York federal courts on Thursday, the same day it earlier confirmed in a blog post that cyber criminals had bribed and recruited a group of rogue overseas support agents to steal the cryptocurrency exchange’s customer data to facilitate social engineering attacks.
G.B., the representative plaintiff, alleged in the class action complaint filed in the U.S District Court for the Northern District of California that Coinbase Global Inc. and Coinbase Inc. failed to safeguard the data of the potential class and immediately inform the exchange’s users of the data breach.
