The U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts recently celebrated the official appointment of a new magistrate judge in an investiture ceremony.
The ceremony, held Thursday at the federal John J. Moakley Courthouse in Boston, celebrated U.S. Magistrate Judge Jessica D. Hedges and included speeches from her colleagues and family. Hedges’s speech emphasized the challenges facing the judiciary and reflected on how she journeyed from being a bookworm growing up in West Virginia to her new job on the bench. Hedges spoke about the importance of restorative justice and how her time as a criminal defense attorney as a founding senior partner at Hedges & Tumposky shaped her professional life.
