The Trump administration on Thursday asked the U.S. Supreme Court to reinstate a renewed ban on transgender service members in the military, saying a district judge “improperly second-guessed” the Pentagon in blocking the policy.
The high court has been inundated with requests by the Department of Justice to undo lower court rulings blocking President Donald Trump’s policy blitz in the first few months of his second presidency. Thursday’s case comes in response to a decision by a federal judge in Tacoma, Washington, blocking the Pentagon’s new ban on trans people serving in the armed forces after finding the prohibition likely unconstitutional.
