The death of Jessica Aber, 43, a longtime federal prosecutor who served as the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia under the Biden administration, has shaken her former colleagues who remember her kindness and commitment to public service.
“Jess dedicated almost her entire career to public service, and the type of matters she worked on … were some of the most challenging cases that there were,” G. Zachary Terwilliger, a Vinson & Elkins partner who previously served as the 62nd U.S. attorney for the EDVA before Aber succeeded him, said Monday in an interview. “She had a wonderful way of conducting herself with confidence and leadership but also humility and never would ask someone to do something she wasn’t willing to do herself and would always prefer to highlight the work of others rather than her own.”
