Morrison & Foerster Sees Revenue Rise Amid Surging IP, Commercial Litigation Demand

Morrison & Foerster’s balanced practice mix and surging demand in commercial and IP litigation helped drive a 5% rise in gross revenue, to $1.41 billion, and a 7.3% increase in net income, to $532 million, at the firm last year.

With overall lawyer head count down 4.9% annually, dropping from 1,073 to 1,020, revenue per lawyer saw a 10.5% rise, to $1.38 million. The firm also saw a reshuffling of its partner ranks to align the equity and nonequity tiers, with equity partner head count shrinking by 3.7%, to 174, while nonequity partner head count spiked 36.5%, to 173. Total partner head count increased by 12.8%, to 348.
