On Wednesday, ALM announced that actor, producer and director Rob Lowe will be the opening keynote speaker for Legalweek 2025 on March 25 in New York.
The keynote, titled “The Art of Reinvention: Turning Setbacks Into Stepping Stones with Rob Lowe,” will highlight the importance of adaptability and the ability to remain relevant in the face of changing fortunes.
Lowe began his career at 15 when he starred in ABC’s sitcom “A New Kind of Family.” He soon rose to prominence in the 1980s through his work in such films as “The Outsiders” and “St. Elmo’s Fire.”
By the end of that decade, however, Lowe experienced a number of personal setbacks, including struggles with addiction, that hindered his career.
Lowe made a comeback in 1999, when he starred as Sam Seaborn in the NBC political drama “The West Wing.” Lowe has since been a fixture in many television dramas and comedies, including ABC’s “Brothers & Sisters” and NBC’s “Parks and Recreation.” Most recently, Lowe became the host of the game show “The Floor” on Fox.
“ALM is very excited to welcome Rob Lowe as the headline speaker for Legalweek 2025. As an Emmy and Golden Globe nominee, and two-time Screen Actors Guild Award winner, he is an outstanding addition to the 2025 program,” Richard Caruso, senior vice president of legal products at ALM Global, said in a news release. “His story of resiliency over four decades in film, television and theater while navigating personal challenges directly resonates with the Legalweek audience.”
Additional Legalweek 2025 sessions and speakers will be announced in the coming months.
The conference, which takes place at the New York Hilton Midtown from March 24-27, will feature panels and discussions, offering valuable insights and analysis for law firms, in-house legal departments, legal technologists and other legal professionals. It will also showcase some of the newest legal technology innovations in the industry.
The nominations period for the Legalweek Leaders in Tech Law Awards 2025 is also now open. These awards honor the achievements of law firms, legal departments and legal technology providers, and how they have advanced legal innovation. Nominations will be accepted until Dec. 2.
