Three days after Alaska federal Judge Joshua Kindred abruptly announced his resignation, the Judicial Council revealed Monday that he was asked to do so after an investigation concluded he had an inappropriate “sexualized relationship” with one court clerk and created a hostile work environment for others.
In a 30-page order, the council said Kindred bombarded his clerks with hundreds of texts containing “crude, sexual, personal and vulgar messages” about his and their personal lives during his four-year tenure on the federal bench. He also had sexual encounters with a clerk, who would later become a federal prosecutor, in his chambers and at his temporary home.
